We would like to dance, talk and enjoy our guests until late in the night (or dawn). If you don’t want to drive after all those beers, you can stay at the H2otel. Wedding guests can stay at the H2otel for the night of the wedding and a couple of nights before or after at a discount rate of 10%. The prices per room including the 10% discount are:

Friday or Saturday nights:
Double room 153 eur
Single room 117 eur

Sunday or week nights:
Double room 135 eur
Single room 108 eur

The price includes the room, breakfast buffet (for one or two people depending on whether it is a single or double room), access to the Aqualudic (warm interior and exterior pools – a swimming cap is compulsory!!!! – jacuzzis, hamman, sauna, turkish bath and gym), robe and slippers to enjoy your stay.

In and around Unhais da Serra

For peace and quiet and beautiful views, in a rural setting:

Quinta da Vargem, at around 5km from the H2otel, is a big guest house on a farm, with swimming pool and tennis court. You can also learn how to make cheese with them. Rooms there can be booked through their website (in English) or through booking.com. If you book through their website, mention in the comments section: casamento Rita e Herman for a 15% discount! 😀

Casa de Campo de Torneiros at around 3km from the H2otel, is a modern guest house with swimming pool on the mountain slope. Rooms there can be booked through their website (in Portuguese) or through booking.com.

Be advised, not all roads are illuminated at night, and these houses are not located in the most obvious places, so if you plan to drive to one of them after the wedding, make sure you do your recon during day light. 😉

 

In Covilhã

Covilhã is the closest city, at about 30 minutes driving from the H2otel. It has some more affordable options, and it is a good starting point to visit the mountains.

Further up the mountain

Not so handy for the wedding night, because it is a bit of a long drive through winding roads, but if you plan to stay a few days longer and want to do some hiking or driving around, these might be some nice options to look into. On the road from Covilhã to the top of the Serra da Estrela, called Torre, there a few very nice hotels.

Pousada Serra da Estrela used to be a Sanatorium. Now it is part of the Pousadas de Portugal, a group of historic hotels throughout Portugal.

Hotel dos Carqueijais has great views over Covilhã and the valley.

Hotel Serra da Estrela and Chalés de Montanha (mountain Chalets) are always sold out during ski season but in the summer it might be possible to get some nice deals.
