Since we know you come from many different places with different wedding traditions, we thought it would be useful to let you know a little bit of what to expect on the day of the wedding.
Our big day starts at 4pm welcoming you all with a drink. About an half an hour later, depending on how fashionably late Rita is going to be, we will start the wedding ceremony. It is a civil wedding, outside, in the hotel garden. The ceremony will last around 20 minutes and it will be in Portuguese, because that is the law, but there will be translation in English for Herman, because that is also the law. He has to know what he is getting himself into
After the ceremony there will be a reception with drinks, buffet food and live music. Since a big part of the reception space consists of the garden, ladies, think about those heels on the grass Also, don’t forget that in the mountains, although it can be very hot during the day, it can also get chilly and windy in the evening, so bring a little something warmer.
During the reception we hope to have the chance to talk to everyone, catch up, hear about how gorgeous we look and toast to this awesome day.
The photos on our wedding day will be made by Nuno Ferreira. Don’t be surprised if he shows up with a camera pointing at you. We asked him to skip all the formal poses and instead, Nuno will try to make some shots of us with all the guests while we chat and toast. After the wedding we will make the photos available to all through this website. At some point in the afternoon we might sneak out to go take some pictures as a couple (let’s face it, it’s not every day Herman’s socks match his tie!) but we hope this will not take us away from all of our guests for too long.
As the afternoon becomes evening, sometime around 7pm or 8pm, we will go inside and have a seated down dinner. We hope you enjoy the dishes we chose for you. Eat, drink, eat some more, and get ready because after dinner, it is going down!
We will kick off the party with a clumsy but hopefully endearing first dance as husband and wife. After that, we want to see your moves! To keep you all fueled there will be some more buffet food: desserts, fruit and cheeses, and of course, more drinks. We really hope you all have fun, dance with us, and without, and keep the party going because later in the night there will be some traditional Portuguese soup and febrinhas em pão quente (meat with warm bread). Afterwards, dancing and awesomeness will continue…
